3D Modeling/Animation

6-12 credits

Students will be introduced to modelling and animating 3-dimensional (3D) objects in Autodesk Maya®. They will learn to create 3D graphics for film, video games and interactive media industries. Students also learn the fundamentals of how to use Photoshop, as Maya® and Photoshop go hand-in-hand.

Computer Programming

6-12 credits

Students enrolled in this course will be provided an extensive coverage of the fundamentals of high-level language programming using Microsoft’s Visual C# for Windows. Course topics include: introduction to the C# language; C# operators and expressions; conditional statements; looping statements; top-down program development; methods; arrays and strings; and string functions. Students will have the opportunity to receive credit for a first year programming course in the DMIT program at NAIT.

Computer Skills

6-20 credits

Students enrolled in this course will learn the basics through advanced features of the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs. This includes PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher. The skills attained in this course are transferrable to a wide range of careers and are important to have on your resume.

Digital Photography

6-12 credits

Students enrolled in this course will develop the skills necessary to take eye-catching photos. These skills include but are not limited to: correctly using digital cameras, knowing what each of the settings on a camera does, how to compose a good photo, lighting a scene and editing photos in Photoshop and Lightroom CC. Students will be able to take photos in a variety of locations around the school and the downtown area.

Graphic Design

6-12 credits

Students will develop the fundamental skills to pursue a career in graphic design. They will become familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign, and will learn what it means to create good designs. Students might also have the chance to do some freelance graphic design on the side.

Video Game Design

6-12 credits

Students interested in pursuing a career as a video game designer can enroll in this course to develop skills using the Unity game engine. Students will have the chance to make or start their on video game project and in the process learn about visual design and basic programming skills.

Video Production

6 - 12 credits

Students enrolled in this course will develop skills to create and produce videos for the web. Students will learn skills in pre-production, production, and post-production. Students will learn how to use Adobe Premiere Pro as well as Adobe After Effects. The focus of the course will be to create videos for a school YouTube account.

Web Design/Web Development

6-12 credits

Students enrolled in this course will develop skills that will allow them to create websites using HTML and CSS, as well as learn web development languages such as JavaScript and PHP. Students will also learn how to upload their websites to the web and edit digital media, such as photographs and video, with the purpose of developing digital and internet media.
