Academic Support & Online Centre
Located on the top floor of CHC, the Academic Support & Online Center (ASOC) provides a broad range of learning resources with access to wireless laptops for coursework, CHC Learn and online references and tools. Students benefit from spending time in the ASOC studying both independently and collaboratively, as well as working with subject specific tutors and CHAMP (Centre High Academic Mentorship Program).
The ASOC provides valuable learning strategies to help students become successful. Students access these effective strategies in a variety of ways: CHC Learn, in print and thematic workshops. Students choosing an independent learning program (On-line Courses or Hybrid) can access these in the ASOC.
Reading proficiency is key to academic success and life-long learning. The ASOC has a wonderful collection of reading materials (both print and online) for both enjoyment and to help improve reading skills.
The Makerspace is a creative and innovative addition to our learning commons called the ASOC (Academic Support and Online Centre). Using a variety of technologies like littleBits, Makey Makeys, the Green Screen and so much more, students actively participate in a wide range of challenges to stretch their problem solving skills and develop effective collaboration strategies. It's a fun space that student can access for school projects or simply as a means to explore a different way to create meaning.
The ASOC is open at 8 am, Monday through Friday, and also provides:
- Student borrowing, photocopying and printing privileges
- A comfortable atmosphere to relax with a book or magazine
