Academic Support & Online Centre
Located on the top floor of CHC, the Academic Support & Online Center (ASOC) provides a broad range of learning resources such as Chromebooks for coursework, access to CHC Learn and online references and tools. Students benefit from spending time in the ASOC studying both independently and collaboratively, as well as working with subject-specific tutors.
CHAMP, our Centre High Academic Mentorship Program, is another support we offer students. Exceptional students at Centre High volunteer their time to help their peers with their coursework throughout the day.
Reading proficiency is key to academic success and life-long learning. The ASOC has a wonderful collection of reading materials (print and online) for both enjoyment and to help improve reading skills.
The ASOC also promotes design thinking through an active Makerspace, a collaborative work space inside the school. Using a variety of technologies like littleBits, Makey Makeys, the Green Screen and so much more, students actively participate in a wide range of challenges to stretch their problem solving skills and develop effective collaboration strategies. It's a fun space that student can access for school projects or simply as a means to explore a different way to create meaning.
The ASOC is open at 8 am, Monday through Friday, and also provides:
- Student borrowing, photocopying and printing privileges
- A comfortable atmosphere to relax with a book or magazine
